SKETCHES is a 12 movement improvised solo piano work, designed to explore the harmonic qualities and relationships of each key. The work is a journey - a story of the unsaid, inner feelings a person emotes in response to the rigours of daily life in a fast-paced, highly stressful modern day society - these emotions although sometimes not an instant response, appear in the form of a type of escapism or daydream. Sketches is indeed an attempt at a musical illustration of the inner workings of the mind.
